PROGRAM NOTE
I composed the first of my Three Intermezzos in 2015, to be played between two songs on poems by Gerard Manley Hopkins. Dieter Hennings was the guitarist at the premiere; he liked the piece and played it separately a number of times. In 2023, I decided to give this freestanding intermezzo two new companions. Dieter was an invaluable collaborator in bringing the cycle to fruition. He performed its premiere in April 2023.
